Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has appealed to the residents of the state to exercise patience with the Federal Government over the delay in reconstructing the Umuahia-Aba railway tracks.

Governor Otti made the plea during a media chat with journalists at the Government House, Umuahia. He spoke against the backdrop of the stalled work and inactivity on the Aba-Umuahia-Enugu section of the railway corridor.

The Governor noted that he had already intervened by meeting with the Management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation on the matter. Governor Otti said the corporation was working to revamp the railway tracks in Umuahia as part of a broader effort to restore the Eastern railway axis.

The governor also used the occasion to announce that his administration would soon commence rehabilitation work on the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot-Ekpene federal road.
